Overview

We are working on new ways to diagnose early signs of alzheimer’s disease. We have developed tests of thinking skills and memory, and want to know if they are good enough for the NHS.

Summary

What does it involve:

A single visit which can take 2-3 hours, with questions about your health, thinking skills and memory tests, a blood test, and an optional MRI scan.

A small number of people will be invited to repeat the thinking skills and memory tests in 1 year time.

There is a £40 voucher as reimbursement for your time.

Aged 65 or over

Subjective memory concerns, or mild cognitive impairment

English as you first language

Diagnosis of dementia

Sensory impairment that cannot be corrected with aids

Neurological injury or neurodegenerative disorders

Current difficulty with drug/alcohol abuse

Learning disability

Severe depression

Current severe psychiatric disorder

Sleep apnoea

Meet the researcher

Stacey Horne

Stacey is a Senior Research Practitioner, who has worked in the team for over 8 years on a variety of studies recruiting patients, carers and staff. With a preference for working on dementia and older adult studies. Stacey is currently working on the Cobalt Study, READOUT, SPACES and CareCoach.
