Overview
We are inviting people with a diagnosis of dementia who are also experiencing low mood and/or anxiety to participate in a 12-week group offering Compassion Focused Therapy at a venue in Exeter.
Summary
You will have a 50% chance of receiving the group therapy, and a 50% chance of receiving usual care. This will be allocated at random. We will ask you some questions at the start of the study, at 12-weeks and 6-months later.

Confirmed diagnosis of dementia of any type (mild to moderate symptoms)

Experience symptoms of depression and/or anxiety

Capacity to consent to participate in research

Can communicate in English

Ability to attend a face-to-face group OR access to WiFi, enabling them to partake in online sessions

Have sufficient hearing to engage in the groups (with our without hearing aids)

Meet the researcher
Becky ParkBecky Park is a Research Practitioner at Devon Partnership NHS Trust. She joined the Research Department in 2023 after graduating with a BSc in Psychology and has worked in various roles across community and hospital settings. Becky has supported studies including SPACES, PPiP2, ASSURED, STOP, NCISH, GLAD, EDGI, VISION-QUEST, DiPS, and Anger and Aggression. She has a special interest in psychosis mental health research.
