Overview
The PROTECT study is an exciting opportunity to take part in a major UK research study. It aims to understand how healthy brains age and why people develop dementia. The PROTECT study is run by the University of Exeter and Kings College London, in partnership with the NHS.
Summary
What is involved?
Once a year, you will be asked to complete a set of questionnaires about yourself, your lifestyle and your health.
Each takes an hour or less to complete.
You will also be asked to take a series of online tests, to measure changes in brain function.

Meet the researcher
Gayle Githens-MazerGayle Githens-Mazer is Clinical Lead for Research Delivery at Devon Partnership NHS Trust, with over 26 years' of NHS experience across London and the South West. With more than 18 years in research, she is committed to integrating innovative treatments into patient care.
Gayle provides operational leadership to the Research and Development team, supporting the setup and delivery of clinical studies that improve services. She works closely with clinical teams to promote knowledge sharing and partners with academic and commercial organisations to advance research. Gayle was appointed to the National Institute for Health and Care Research's Senior Research Leader Programme, supporting research leadership among nurses and allied health professionals.
