Overview

NCISH is a long-term study, run by The University of Manchester, collecting in-depth information on all suicides in the UK since 1996. The data collected, has helped shape improvement in patient safety in mental health safety, reduced patient suicide rates. The evidence collected by the NCISH team, has been cited in national policies, clinical guidance and regulation in all UK countries.

Summary

The NCISH study have been collecting data for over 20 years. Based on our evidence from studies of mental health services, primary care and accident and emergency departments we have developed a list of 10 key elements for safer care for patients.

She has specialised in dementia care, supporting individuals and families across diverse clinical settings. Her person-centred, evidence-based approach is rooted in a deep understanding of cognitive and mental health conditions. A passionate advocate for research, Lesley promotes its role in advancing care and improving outcomes. She leads a skilled, inclusive research team, encouraging learning and collaboration. Lesley is committed to embedding research into practice and driving innovation that enhances the lives of people living with dementia and their loved ones.
