Thank you to everyone running for Open Up this Sunday

This Sunday, the streets of Exeter will be filled with energy, determination and community spirit as runners take on the Great West Run. We're incredibly grateful to everyone running for Open Up. Your dedication is helping create a real change in mental health, learning disability and neurodiversity services. From enhancing therapeutic spaces to funding meaningful activities and equipment, every step taken on Sunday will help make a real difference.

Ben's story

For Ben Wilson, this event is more than just a race. Doing cognitive behavioural therapy and taking up running at the start of my 40s changed my life, Ben said. So, tackling the Great West Run to champion the cause of mental health was a no-brainer. The work Open Up does in Devon is unbelievably important, and it's an honour to be able to represent them on the streets of Exeter.

Hannah's story

Also running is Hannah Allison, Assistant Psychologist, who has seen first-hand the value of timely, compassionate care. Hannah said: I am running for Open Up because of my experiences as an assistant psychologist, working with people in often the toughest moments of their lives. I have seen just how important getting the right support at the right time is, and the projects that Open Up supports our services to do this, as well as bringing joy to our team and the people we work with.
