Take on the Sahara Desert Trek with Open Up

Have you ever dreamed of trekking across the Sahara Desert? Open Up is giving supporters, staff, friends and family the opportunity to take on an unforgettable challenge from Thursday 2 to Tuesday 7 March 2028 in partnership with Global Adventure Challenges.

This incredible adventure will take participants to Morocco for a four-day trek through the breathtaking Sahara Desert. From vast rolling dunes and star-filled skies to the spectacular Chigaga Dunes, the challenge offers the chance to experience one of the world's most iconic landscapes while raising funds to support mental health, learning disability, neurodiversity, gender and children's community services across Devon.

Along the way, trekkers will travel through the stunning Draa Valley, camp in the heart of the desert and witness a sunrise over the Sahara, an experience many describe as a true once-in-a-lifetime moment.

The trek will be physically demanding, with long days on foot and challenging desert conditions, but participants will be supported throughout by experienced guides and a team of fellow adventurers. The sense of achievement at the finish line, combined with the knowledge that every step is helping others, makes the challenge particularly rewarding.

Whether you're looking to push yourself beyond your comfort zone, tick a major adventure off your bucket list or support your local NHS charity, the Sahara Desert Trek offers a unique opportunity to do all three.

The challenge is available through either a minimum sponsorship or self-funding option, making it accessible to a range of participants.

Daniel Robson, Head of Charity at Open Up, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity to take on an incredible personal challenge while supporting projects that help improve mental health, learning disability and neuro-diversity services across Devon. From the stunning scenery to the sense of achievement at the end of the trek, it's an experience participants will never forget."
