Patrick the Pony brings smiles to The Haldon Eating Disorder Unit

Patrick the Pony visits the Haldon Unit

Patrick the Pony visits the Haldon UnitPatients and staff at the Haldon Eating Disorder Unit recently enjoyed a special visit from Patrick the Pony, funded by our charity Open Up. Based at Wonford House, Exeter, The Haldon provides residential support and care for people with severe eating disorders who live in the South West of England.

The visit was arranged by Tabitha Blurton, an Occupational Therapy Apprentice working at The Haldon, who wanted patients to experience the benefits of equine-assisted therapy. Research suggests that spending time with animals can help improve confidence, communication, trust and wellbeing, while also reducing feelings of isolation.
