Allied Health Professionals Day 2026
Today we celebrate Allied Health Professionals Day and the theme this year is Celebrating AHPs Deliver. As the third-largest clinical workforce within health and care, Allied Health Professions (AHPs) play a pivotal role in supporting the NHS Long Term Plan and the three shifts:
- From hospital to community
- From analogue to digital
- From sickness to prevention
AHP Day offers a platform to spotlight the remarkable impact AHPs have on the delivery of care.
Hazel Powell, Chief Nursing Officer and Allied Professions Lead, thanks staff:
Dear Colleagues,
On this Allied Health Professions Day, I want to take a moment to celebrate and thank each of you for the incredible contribution you make to our trust, our patients, and our communities.
AHPs are at the heart of multidisciplinary care—bringing expertise, innovation, and compassion to every corner of our services. Whether you're supporting recovery, enabling independence, improving mental health, or driving service transformation, your impact is profound and far-reaching.
This year’s theme reminds us of the power of collaboration and the value of diverse voices in shaping the future of healthcare. Your dedication to person-centred care, evidence-based practice, and continuous improvement is what makes our trust stronger, safer, and more responsive.
I am proud to work alongside you and deeply grateful for all that you do. Today, we celebrate your professionalism, your passion, and your unwavering commitment to making a difference.
AHPs are made up of 14 different professions, including Art therapists, Dietitians, Dramatherapists, Music therapists, Occupational therapists, Physiotherapists and Speech and language therapists.
