New multispan build at New Leaf takes shape

The exciting project to transform growing space at New Leaf, part of our organisation's Vocational Rehabilitation Service, has taken a major step forward. Thanks to support from our charity Open Up, the new multispan structure is now standing proudly on site, replacing the old polytunnels.

This milestone builds on the fantastic support already received. Weaver Demolition and Tilbury Douglas Construction kindly donated their time and expertise to remove the old structures and level the ground at no cost, ensuring the project could move ahead quickly and with minimal expense.

When complete, the multispan will provide a larger and more versatile space for horticultural activities. These activities play a vital role in supporting recovery, wellbeing and the development of skills that help people move towards greater independence and, in many cases, employment.

Clinical Service Manager for Vocational Services, Trevor Moir, said the progress so far is already making a difference to the team and those who use the service. He explained that having a purpose-built, modern environment means more opportunities can be created for people to grow in confidence, learn new skills and take steps towards independence.

Vocational Services Manager, Della Norris, added: "The new multispan will not only enhance the therapeutic offer at New Leaf but will also strengthen pathways to employment and community engagement, helping people connect and contribute in meaningful ways."

This project has only been possible thanks to the generosity of Open Up supporters and the commitment of local partners. Together, they are helping to improve care environments and create meaningful opportunities for people across Devon and beyond.
