We are proud to have contributed to a new careers report that was launched this week from the Careers and Enterprise Company's Health Sector Advisory Group.

'Examining the skills gap: Inspiring young people to take up careers in health and social care' aims to find local long-term workforce solutions to key skills gaps in their organisations.

Jo Horne in LondonJo Horne, Apprenticeship and Early Careers Development Manager, said: "As a contributor to this report, I was honoured to have attended the House of Lords yesterday for the launch of this new report.

I'm proud to represent our commitment to developing future healthcare talent and ensuring careers education and pathways into the NHS remain central to workforce planning.

"This year, we are particularly keen to expand and empower our Careers Ambassadors to raise awareness of diversity of NHS roles and engage with adults and young people within our schools and communities."

The event included inspirational best practice from Trusts and ICB's across the country as well as hearing young people's career journeys where early health careers education and engagement has resulted in positive outcomes for the individuals and organisations involved.

Panel discussions from the Medical Schools Council, education leads and other leading figures in the widening participation and skills landscape ensured an insightful and thought provoking session.

The report was presented by Baroness Nicky Morgan, the former Secretary of State for Education and current Chair of The Careers and Enterprise Company. The report highlights the work of 13 NHS employers who partnered with their local Careers Hubs to co-design place-based solutions to address skills shortages and workforce pressures they face.
