Devon Partnership NHS Trust achieves gold standard for work experience provision
We are delighted to announce that our Widening Participation and Early Careers team have received the prestigious gold award for the NHS Work Experience Quality Standard by NHS England.
Following a rigorous assessment and verification process, our work experience programme was recognised for its high quality, well-structured approach, and learner-focused delivery. The review team praised our:
- Central coordination hub and clear WEX policies
- Accessible pre-placement materials outlining opportunities and application processes
- Detailed induction plans and strong supervision throughout placements
- Impressive post-placement follow-up with ongoing information, advice, and guidance
- Holistic reflection and review process ensuring learners feel supported at every stage
The review team described our programme as "exceptionally well-organised and comprehensive underpinned by clear policies, robust coordination, and a genuine commitment to supporting learners throughout their journey. Overall, this is an outstanding, learner-focused programme that exemplifies best practice in NHS work experience provision."

We offer a broad range of work experience opportunities across the Trust in both clinical and non-clinical areas. These range from a day's shadowing a service/staff member, a valuable pre-employment programme for a young person with an educational health care plan, to an industry placement and T level students exploring their first steps in the workplace.
