Congratulations to Dan, who completed the London Marathon last month, finishing in an impressive time of 3:02:50 and raising vital funds for our charity, Open Up.

Dan’s motivation for taking on the marathon is deeply personal. Following the birth of his youngest child, his wife experienced severe postnatal depression. With the support of specialist perinatal mental health services, she was admitted to Jasmine Lodge. Here she received the care she needed to stay safe and begin her recovery, while continuing to bond with her baby and stay connected as a family.

Inspired by that experience, Dan took on the London Marathon to give something back. Thanks to incredible support, he has already raised around £1,700, with donations still growing. Every contribution will support Open Up’s Little Something Fund, helping to enhance perinatal services and ensure more families can access vital care when they need it most.

Reflecting on the experience, Dan described the day as incredible - great weather, a brilliant crowd and an emotional atmosphere throughout. Supporters lined the route, cheering him on every step of the way. One of the most meaningful moments came towards the end of the race, when he saw his family waiting at 25.5 miles, giving him the boost he needed for the final stretch.

This is an achievement Dan and his family are incredibly proud of, and one that will have a lasting impact for others facing similar challenges.
