Celebrating Volunteers Week 2025

This week we're proud to celebrate Volunteers' Week (Monday 2 to Sunday 8 June), joining thousands of organisations in recognising the incredible contribution volunteers make.
First established in 1984, Volunteers' Week is a national campaign that highlights the diversity of volunteering and provides a valuable opportunity to say thank you to those who give their time, skills and energy to support others.
Pauline Champion, Early Career and Volunteer Co-ordinator, shared her appreciation: "Your contributions have been invaluable in enhancing the services and experiences of our patients, their families, carers and staff. Whether you are befriending patients, supporting recreational activities or providing pastoral care, your compassion and commitment shine through in everything you do.
"We are incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated team of volunteers who bring their unique skills and experiences to our organisation. Your efforts not only improve the quality of care we provide but also help build a stronger, more connected community.
"Thank you for your time, energy, and the positive impact you make every day. Your support is truly appreciated, and we are grateful for each and every one of you."
Volunteering brings benefits for both individuals and our organisation. Key impacts include:
Improvement of services and experience: Volunteers play an active role in improving the experience of patients, carers and staff through a wide range of support activities.
Skill development and confidence building: Volunteering provides opportunities to learn new skills and gain valuable experience - especially useful for those considering a career in healthcare.
Community involvement: Volunteers help to build stronger links with the local community and promote a sense of belonging.
Wellbeing and social connections: Evidence shows volunteering can improve wellbeing, build confidence and create new social connections.
Support for staff: Volunteers complement the work of staff, bringing fresh perspectives and additional support to our teams.
Volunteering is a mutually rewarding experience that strengthens our services, supports staff and provides personal growth for those involved.
Thank you to all of our volunteers.
