Staff outside Langdon after HCA recruitment event

An interview during the HCA recruitment eventA highly successful recruitment event for Healthcare Assistants (HCA) was held last Friday at Langdon in Dawlish.

The event, which was hosted at Avon House, brought together candidates, clinical colleagues and support teams for a packed and engaging day focused on the rewarding role of an HCA at Langdon.

The event welcomed 46 attendees on the day and gave candidates a valuable insight into what it is like to work within our Langdon teams. The morning included presentations from Senior Nurses and current Healthcare Assistants, who shared first-hand experiences of a day in the life of an HCA, the responsibilities involved and the positive impact the role has on patients and colleagues.

An interview during the HCA recruitment eventCandidates also took part in group interaction sessions, which formed part of the interview process and helped bring the values, teamwork and communication skills needed for the role to life. In the afternoon the recruitment team had nine interview panels running, supported by a mixture of Ward Managers, Nurses and Healthcare Assistants who helped assess candidates and share their own experience of working at Langdon.

Chris Pyatt, Resourcing Manager, said: "On a hot summer’s day, the sun was certainly shining for us. By the end of the event, we were delighted to make 37 offers of appointment, successfully filling all current available vacancies across the teams at Langdon. This is a fantastic achievement and reflects the strength of collaborative working between clinical services, recruitment, HR, widening participation and local administration colleagues.

"A huge thank you goes to everyone who helped make the day such a great success, including the admin support, Emily Ladds from the Recruitment Team, Pauline Champion from the Widening Participation Team, Carlie Bailey from the HR Team and Mandy Richards from the Langdon Admin Team.

"Special thanks also go to Jean Simpson for all her support in helping bring the event together, and to every colleague who gave their time, energy and enthusiasm on the day."
