Allied health professionals (AHPs) work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, patients' homes and in the community, and play a key role in improving the health and wellbeing of patients. They are the third largest workforce in the NHS.

Allied health professional roles

Our allied health professionals play a vital role in contributing to patient care and overall health and wellbeing. There are 15 unique different professions.

  • Occupational therapists (OTs)
  • Physiotherapists
  • Dietitians
  • Art therapists
  • Music therapists
  • Speech and language therapists (SLTs)
  • Physical health practitioners - sports therapists

You will work in teams that are passionate about providing the best quality care for people using our services, as well as supporting you in your career and your health and wellbeing.

Physiotherapists

As a physiotherapist you will work with patients with complex physical needs. You will create treatment and recovery plans individual to their needs. 

Your role could involve a range of therapy, such as hydrotherapy and postural management clinics, as well as working closely with senior physiotherapists.

Occupational therapists

As an occupational therapist you can work across a range of settings and environments.

You will work with people with both mental health and physical health conditions, as well as with families, carers, employers and organisations in both the private and public sector.
