Pregnant and postnatal women

Being pregnant and having a baby is usually thought of as a happy time, however, for some women it does not always feel this way.

How are you feeling?

  • Sad and low
  • Tearful for no apparent reason
  • Worthless
  • Hopeless about the future
  • Tired
  • Unable to cope
  • Irritable and angry
  • Guilty
  •  Anxious
  • Intrusive or worrying thoughts
  • Unsupported

These symptoms can vary from mild to severe and can affect women in different ways. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms we can help you.

You can understand more about difficulties you might experience by reading our leaflet under Resources.

Perinatal mental health service

We also have our perinatal mental health service which provides care and treatment for women who are pregnant or postnatal and who are at risk of, or are affected by mental health concerns. They also offer expert advice to women considering pregnancy if they have a diagnosed mental illness. Read more.
