Care and treatment

We will work with you to create an individual care and treatment plan to support and advise you about living in your preferred gender role.

This may include:

  • Hormone therapy
  • Psychotherapeutic interventions
  • Occupational therapy
  • Ways to dress in the social role that matches your gender
  • Ways to behave in the social role that matches your gender
  • Language and speech therapy
  • Hair removal treatments
  • Peer support groups to meet other people with gender dysphoria
  • Relatives’ support groups for your family
  • Medication advice and monitoring
  • Referral for surgery

For some people, support and advice from the clinic is all that you will need to make you feel comfortable in your gender identity. However, you may feel that you require more extensive treatment, such as surgery. You will have plenty of time to discuss your own personal care pathway with the clinic doctor and plan your future.
