The Haldon accommodation

The Haldon is situated in Exeter, Devon and set in large and pleasant grounds.

We offer accommodation for both men and women with severe eating disorders on a residential basis. We currently provide 10 bed spaces for people requiring intensive treatment at The Haldon.  

A warm and friendly atmosphere 

The Haldon is a spacious building with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere where you can:

• find a quiet spot for reflection
• talk with specialists in a number of small, bright therapy rooms
• interact with other people in the living room
• relax in front of a TV, read a book or play board games 
• develop new hobbies such as exploring your artistic talents in the art room.

You will be able to bring some of your personal belongings with you, whether it’s your mobile phone, laptop or hair straighteners. Please note any electrical items will need to be checked by our electricians before you are able to use them.

Supporting everyone 

Everyone eats together in the dining room. We know that eating can be difficult but everyone is facing similar challenges. We work very hard to fully support everyone to manage mealtime emotions. Staff and patients eat together and we encourage everyone to remain at the table until the meal is finished. It’s an opportunity to chat and enjoy one another’s company.

Feel relaxed - it helps you to recover

After all this is where you will be spending most of your time for a few weeks and it’s important for you to feel relaxed. We’ll provide you with a complete list of things that you should bring when you come for your pre-admission visit.

Time away from The Haldon

Exeter is a lovely city with a wide range of shops, cinemas and museums so there's always a lot to do on your outings from The Haldon. As soon as you’re medically well enough, there will be time away from The Haldon for fresh air and a change of scenery.
