September 1 was the start of a three-month public consultation on the Trust's proposals to close Watcombe Hall in Torquay and to develop services for adults with severe and enduring mental health problems in Torbay. In July, a decision by the Trust Board was made to close Watcombe Hall, an 11 bed in-patient unit. Following a meeting with Torbay Overview and Scrutiny Committee, in August 2006, it was recommended that Devon Partnership NHS Trust undertake a period of further consultation with patients, carers, staff and the wider community of Torbay. The public consultation period is from 1 September 2006 and ends on 24 November 2006. Interested parties are asked to give their views on the proposals that are detailed in the consultation document and to respond via the consultation questionnaire.
