Trust’s financial rating improves further

Sustained improvements in the financial management and performance of Devon Partnership NHS Trust have been recognised in annual ratings published this week by the Audit Commission. The Trust’s overall rating has been increased from 2 to 3 (on a scale of 1-4) and this means that the organisation is ‘consistently above minimum requirements and performing well’. Commenting on the announcement, Director of Finance, Hugh Groves, said:  “Coupled with the Healthcare Commission’s rating of ‘excellent’ for the quality of our services, this financial rating is excellent news. It shows very clearly that we are heading in the right direction and gradually improving our overall performance. “Three years ago the Trust faced a very serious financial situation but, since then, our staff have worked incredibly hard to turn things around.  We now have a very stable financial position and stronger systems and controls in place.  This means that we can plan for the long-term future with far more confidence and place a greater emphasis on improving the quality of services for people with mental health needs.”
