Torquay Round Table raises money for our Charity

During December and January the Torquay Round Table chose our charity and in particular Adult services in Torbay to support via their Santa Sleigh activity, taking Father Christmas around the bay and their well-attended Burns Night, which is organised with the Ladies Circle and raised an incredible £2,477.93.

Richard Derrick from the Torquay Round Table said: “We chose to support the Trust because mental health in Torbay is very close to our hearts and we want to help our local communities thrive."

Lisa-Marie Phillips, Community Service Manager and Emma Gillard, Senior Nurse Manager represented adult services at the Burns Night and said they were welcomed warmly by everyone who paid a keen interest in our charity, and how their actions will help people locally living with mental health issues.

The money raised will enable us to provide above and beyond what the NHS is able to fund and already the team are planning how to spend it. Suggestions include enhancing the educational games for our young adults with psychosis, creating a more welcoming environment at our clinics space in the Chadwell Centre at Paignton and hiring an area in the community to hold focus groups around healthy living choices.

Lisa-Marie said: “Without groups like the Torbay Round Table we wouldn’t be able to provide the extra sparkle which enables us to improve the experience for our patients, and ultimately help in their wellbeing and recovery. Thank you to everyone involved."
