Tobit Emmens, Managing Partner, Research and Innovation in the Trust scooped two awards last night in the Pera Training Shining Stars 2014 Awards in the Creativity Category and the overall Star of the Year Award. He was nominated for writing a commercialisation plan for the text messaging software for people who self-harm, developed as part of a research project. The judging panel were inspired by the pilot work carried out as part of the research project, particularly that a number of people using it reported it prevented a suicide attempt. Tobit has recently secured £50,000 to rebuild the software and roll out for users in the Trust, and to conduct more evaluation work on its benefits. The software draws on elements of CBT and the software helps to deliver the right message to someone at the right time. On winning the award Tobit said "It is an honour to have won both the creativity award and the Star of the Year award and for mental health to shine out in a broad field of competition that included retail, sport, manufacturing and telecoms". Congratulations Tobit, a great achievement!
