We are delighted to announce that our South West Provider Collaborative (SWPC) has been shortlisted in the category of Reducing Healthcare Inequalities for Children and Young People at this year’s HSJ Awards, recognising an outstanding contribution to healthcare and securing a place at the prestigious awards ceremony later this year.
A ‘record-breaking’ 1,456 entries have been received for this year’s Awards, with 223 projects and individuals reaching the final shortlist, making it the biggest awards programme in the award’s 43-year history. The high volume and exceptional quality of applications once again reflects the impressive levels of innovation and care continually being developed within the UK’s healthcare networks.
Following the judging process, our SWPC was shortlisted with its entry ‘Transforming access to, and experiences of, specialised mental health care for children and young people in the South West’, standing out as a real ‘success story’ worthy of a prized place on the panel’s shortlist.
Dr Jason Fee, SWPC Medical Director said: “This really is fantastic news! Being shortlisted in a year when the competition was so tough, with an unprecedented volume of entries from so many other equally deserving Trusts and individuals, is a huge boost for our team.”
“Whatever the result ‘on the night’, we already feel like winners and are so proud to have the opportunity to share our learning with colleagues from across the entire sector.”
The selected winners will be announced during the awards ceremony at Evolution London on 16 November 2023.
This year’s NHS Providers Governance Conference took place on Tuesday 11 July 2023 at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London.
The theme of the conference was ‘Boards in times of challenge and change’ and the role Trust Boards play in making the duty to co-operate a reality.
In the run up to the Conference, Trusts were given the opportunity to apply to the Governance Showcase awards. This year's showcase explored the practices that have improved governance within NHS trusts, including approaches to board oversight of partnerships, integrated performance reports, efforts to build common cultures and approaches to strategy, planning and decision making with local authorities and/or non-NHS partners.
Our South West Provider Collaborative (SWPC) was selected as one of this year’s winners, with our integrated performance reporting for Provider Collaboratives. This has enabled us to build a shared understanding of progress across all our Provider Partners and to clearly assess and report on achievement against our strategic aims. It also provides a clear, concise and consistent view of our overall performance, successes and key challenges.
Anne Forbes, SWPC Programme Director, said: "This is a fantastic achievement for our Collaborative. The introduction of integrated performance reporting has given us greater visibility of our operational activity, financial performance, quality and risk. It also provides comprehensive assurance to Devon Partnership NHS Trust, our Lead Provider, that we are discharging our roles and responsibilities effectively. Well done to everyone involved.
