The Trust has scooped a first and second prize at this year's Royal College of Psychiatrists' South West Innovation awards. Dr David Somerfield and Dr Mark Harrison were awarded first prize for an 'app' for tablets called 'My Care Essentials', which was piloted on Beech ward in Torbay. The Department of Health is considering the potential of the app for wider NHS use. A second-place prize was awarded for the work that has been conducted on our new memory clinics by staff in the older people's directorate. The clinics take a fresh and integrated approach to the diagnosis of dementia and involve working closely with our colleagues in acute hospitals.
