Successful work experience for students

Two secondary school students spent last week with a variety of teams across the Trust. Will Whitehead, 16, from South Dartmoor Community College and Isaac Coven, 15, from Queen Elizabeth's School in Crediton met many different teams and learnt about the work we are doing.

Will (right on photo) said: “Doing work experience this week was a very interesting and enjoyable experience. We were involved in management meetings, we met people from many different backgrounds in mental health and were shown around the Russell Clinic and The Cedars which I particularly enjoyed. I will take from this week a much better understanding of the mental health problems many people face and a developed interest in working in this field as a future career.”

Isaac (left on photo) said: “In my work experience week I have met people and workers from all different backgrounds and fields. Before this week I never realised how much behind the scenes or non-clinical work there was and how important that is in the running of the Trust. Also being in wards and seeing how the clinical side of things worked was amazing even though it seemed pretty stressful at times.”

Thank you to everyone for making them feel welcome and talking about your work.
