Take part in our 2020 Charity skydive

Posted by Devon Partnership Trust in Charity, News on 13th December, 2019

Would you like to raise money for our charity?

Following the success of last year’s charity skydive, our charity is looking for courageous volunteers to take part in another 15,000ft tandem skydive and raise funds to benefit those who use our services. The money raised could, for example, go towards therapy sessions to stimulate memories, the transformation of a space to improve patient wellbeing or the purchase of equipment to support people’s recovery.

Recently, Kira Cox, Staff Nurse at Learning Disability Inpatients, completed a jump and raised an incredible £770. She said: “The experience was amazing, everyone needs to do it! Such an amazing sense of freedom and going through a cloud was a very strange feeling. I wanted to do the sky dive to support learning disability and mental health. The money I raised could possibly alter the aesthetics on one of our units providing more comfort, or even help provide some equipment.”

Skydive Buzz based in Dunkeswell Airfield near Honiton will be working with us to provide everything you’ll need to have an unforgettable jump. Two dedicated times slots have been provided for our charity:

  • Saturday 25 April at 9am
  • Saturday 26 September at 9am

If you are unable to make either of these dates you can contact Skydive Buzz to arrange an alternative.

Just Giving

A great way to get fundraising started is to set up an online sponsorship page through our JustGiving page and share this with friends and family to start off donations.

You will be provided with a fundraising pack and can get advice and support any time from Daniel Robson, Head of Charity Fundraising.

How it works

Jump for free

All you have to do is commit to raising £395 (or more!) in sponsorship which is broken down into three amounts:

  • £50 non-refundable deposit to book the jump (you can claim this back through sponsor money)
  • £200 balance to Skydive Buzz on the day of jump (by cash or card, taken from sponsor money)
  • £145+ minimum goes to the Devon Partnership NHS Trust Charity (on the day of jump, by cheque which can be post-dated)

What are the fitness requirements?

You don’t have to be super fit to skydive, but you do need to be generally in good health. The standard upper weight limit is 15 stone / 95 kilos fully clothed. Please call Skydive Buzz if you are between 15 and 18 stone. The minimum age is 16 years and there is no upper age limit. If you are aged between 16 and 18 you must obtain a parent or guardian's consent. If you have any medical conditions you must consult your GP to sign and stamp the BPA medical form. These forms are available on request, or will be sent to you with confirmation once a booking has been confirmed. Please bring these forms with you on the day of your jump (do not post), without these forms you will be unable to jump and you will lose your deposit. For full terms and conditions please visit

What will happen on the day?

You will meet your instructor who will prepare you for your tandem skydive. You then climb on-board the aircraft, where your instructor will tighten your harness as you ride up 15,000ft. Once at altitude, the door will open; you will feel a rush of air and noise as you edge towards the door. A few words of encouragement will come from your instructor and you're off!! You will experience speeds of an adrenaline pumping 120mph while freefalling up to two miles! As the large canopy unfolds, you will become aware of the sudden peace, quiet and tranquillity. You may even be able to help your Instructor steer the parachute around the sky before gliding back to the airfield. Skydive Buzz offer photos and films packages and all the information is available on their website at Please note sponsorship money cannot be used to pay for this.

The information above should go some way to answering your questions, but if for any reason it doesn’t please contact Daniel Robson, Head of Charity Fundraising on 07772 156163, or email
