Shortlisted for HFMA National Healthcare Finance Award

Following on from the recent HSJ Value Award for mental health, the South West Regional Secure Service New Care Model has been shortlisted for the HFMA National Healthcare Finance Awards in the category of 'Innovation'. These awards recognise the work of finance and teams across the UK and the innovation award looks to showcase an initiative that has led to an improvement in the quality of a service in a financially efficient way.

Over the past year, the South West Regional Secure Service has significantly transformed the commissioning and clinical delivery of care for people who require medium and low secure mental health services. Management Accounts has played crucial role in this success, from supporting the development of the original business case as a wave 1 pilot, to the agreement of the budget and forecast outturn for 2017/18.

Commenting on the nomination Anne Forbes, Programme Director says: “I am immensely proud that we have been shortlisted for this innovation award – we work in partnership with eight providers of secure care across the South West, with a highly committed core team leading and supporting the programme of work – our finance colleagues are entirely integral to us achieving our aims. We should never lose sight of the fact that this work, as well as improving efficiency and quality of care, can have a profoundly positive effect on people. We know from the personal, and very moving, stories that people have shared with us that the South West Regional Secure Service is making a difference to their lives – and this is a great motivator as we continue to take it forward”.

Davina Ross, Assistant Director of Finance echoed Anne’s comments: “I am delighted to hear that Devon Partnership Trust has been shortlisted for the national HFMA Innovation Award for 2018. It is fantastic to be recognised for all the hard work undertaken by the finance teams across a number of organisations in ensuring the successful implementation of NCM across the south west region".

Davina Ross, Anne Forbes and Dr Jason Fee will be taking part in the shortlisting interview this week and the winner will be announced at an awards dinner in London as part of the HFMA National Conference.
