Practicing self-care is vitally important, especially when your job involves caring for others. At the Devon Wellbeing Hub, we know that during the festive season it can be even harder to make time for ourselves and our wellbeing. Christmas can be a joyous occasion, but we also recognise it can be particularly difficult and overwhelming too.
To help encourage self-care this festive period, our newest member of the Hub team, Anna Croucher, Senior Colleague Wellbeing Practitioner, will be running Seasonal Self-Care workshops for colleagues in healthcare, social care and the police across Devon. These free workshops will highlight why self-care is so important. They will explore practical tools to help staff navigate the festive season, including compassion-focused therapy, mindfulness training and positive psychology.
The one-hour workshops will take place via MS Teams on:
To book your space, please email dpt.devonwellbeing@nhs.net with your name, job title and organisation.
Please arrive at the start to get the most out the session and bring a notepad and pen. We recommend you are somewhere free from distractions, however we recognise this may not be possible, so please don’t let this put you off.
These sessions are part of the Hub’s plan to start delivering accessible workshops, covering a range of wellbeing topics. They are different to our team support offer, and are instead aimed at individuals who would like tools and advice to help support their everyday wellbeing.
Anna said: “I’m incredibly excited to be part of the team. I trained as an Occupational Therapist just over 20 years ago now. Since then, I have worked in a range of settings including the NHS, schools and within the private sector, supporting people who use services, and staff, with their mental health.
“The thread throughout my career has been my passion to empower individuals with the skills and resources to feel more in control of their wellbeing, to learn ways to feel more grounded and calmer, and to be kind to themselves in the process.
“Colleagues in healthcare, social care and the police are amazing at caring for others, however these roles are challenging and sometimes we need a helping hand to take care of ourselves. I am going to be running a range of workshops, open to all colleagues, drawing on evidenced-based approaches to provide practical resources to support everyday wellbeing. My aim is that you walk away feeling rested, reset and with some helpful tools to support you in your roles.”
Anna has filmed a short video to introduce herself and demonstrate the 7-11 breathing technique, which can help bring a sense of calm if you’re feeling overwhelmed. Click here to try it out.
