Salus Ward receives generous donation

Posted by Devon Partnership Trust in Charity, News on 31st August, 2022

Over the last four years we have been working with the construction company Kier to build a new acute inpatient unit. The new ward, to be known as Salus, is at Torbay Hospital and has been cleverly constructed on a relatively narrow and sloping piece of land behind our other two wards on this site - Beech and Haytor.

Kier recently presented Mark Barriball, Deputy Director of Estates and Facilities, with a cheque for £600.00.

A donation event was held on behalf of Kier and money was donated by their site staff and subcontractors working on the new ward, with the Kier Foundation Charity kindly matching the funds raised on the night.

Mark Barriball said, “We are very grateful to receive this cheque for £600 to support the DPT Charity and we would like to thank Kier and all the people working on our Salus Ward for the very kind and generous donation”.

Kier also made a significant contribution to the cost of the artworks which are being installed in the new ward and on Beech and Haytor.

Salus Ward will provide a range of facilities, including treatment and therapy rooms, a family room, 16 en-suite bedrooms as well as offices for colleagues, a main reception and waiting area. Recruitment of the ward team is well under way with a number of appointments having been made already.
