Devon Partnership NHS Trust has announced that the Appointments Commission has confirmed the re-appointment of Professor Ruth Hawker as a Non-executive Director of the Board. The appointment is for a period of four years from 1 May 2010 until 30 April 2014. Professor Hawker was first appointed as a Non-executive Director of the Trust in 2006 and was formerly Chair of Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust. Mark Taylor, Chairman of Devon Partnership NHS Trust said: “I am delighted that Ruth has been re-appointed. In the last four years she has played an important role in the development of the Trust and her knowledge and experience will be invaluable as we strive to improve services further.” The re-appointment has been made in accordance with the Commissioner for Public Appointments’ Code of Practice. All non-executive appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity to be made public. Professor Hawker has no declared political activity and, as a Non-executive Director, her remuneration will be £6,096 per annum.
