On Sunday 25 May, the Exeter Great West Run will see runners pushing themselves to the limit, all for a great cause. Among them is Ruby Bird, Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner at TALKWORKS, who is lacing up her trainers to raise money for Open Up, our dedicated charity that raises funds to support vital mental health and learning disability services as well as neurodiversity projects.
For Ruby this run is about more than just crossing the finish line, t’s about making a real difference. Ruby said: "I have close family and friends who have struggled with their mental health, and I’ve seen how damaging it can be when support isn’t available. Working for Devon Partnership NHS Trust, I also see the positive impact that mental health services can have, but I know there are still gaps. That’s why I’m running for Open Up: to help raise money for the charity and to raise awareness about mental wellbeing."
