Regional role for Clare McAdam

Our General Manager for Perinatal Services (Community and Inpatient), Clare McAdam, has been appointed as the Clinical Lead for the South West Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Network. She joins an increasing number of our staff who have regional and national roles in their area of expertise.

Clare has been a qualified mental health nurse for over 30 years and working with women and families has always been a focus in her career. She was part of the first perinatal team in Devon at the RD&E around ten years ago and has been a core member of the team that has developed community perinatal services, the interim Mother and Baby Unit (MBU) and, most recently, our brand new Jasmine Lodge MBU. She is also a member of NHS England’s Mother and Baby Unit Clinical Reference Group – which is reviewing standards for all MBUs in England.

Commenting on her Clinical Lead appointment, Clare said: “I am as passionate now as I was thirty years ago about supporting women and families with serious mental health needs. Leading the South West Clinical Network is a great challenge and I am really looking forward to it. I’ll be doing this alongside my DPT role, continuing to work closely with the fantastic mums and families who help shape our services and the inspirational staff I work with in perinatal services and across the organisation.”
