Dawlish councillor and outgoing Mayor Rosie Dawson paid a visit to Langdon Hospital recently to offer support in integrating Devon Partnership NHS Trust's (DPT) interrnationally educated workforce into the community.
Cllr Dawson, a former Langdon employee, is keen to support people who have emigrated to integrate into the Dawlish community as part of her role. She has recently been supporting Ukrainian refugees by arranging activities such as ice cream making, history tours and coastal walks and signposting them to other clubs and events.
She met some of Langdon’s internationally educated professionals on Wednesday, 1 May as her final engagement as Mayor.
As part of her visit, she spoke to colleagues about how they’ve settled into the area, and asked about their interests and hobbies before sharing details of upcoming events that might be of interest.
Cllr Dawson also offered to help arrange social get-togethers including coastal walks and shared her contact details, encouraging colleagues to get in touch if they wanted to talk about what was on offer in the community.
Finola Ellis, Wellbeing Coordinator – Internationally Educated Professionals said: “We’d like to thank Cllr Dawson for taking time out of her busy schedule to come and visit our internationally educated workforce, especially as this was her final engagement as Mayor.
“It was great to have a familiar and friendly face visit Langdon and for Cllr Dawson to share her knowledge about what is on offer in the community to help our colleagues feel welcome and part of Dawlish and everyone who was able to meet her was very grateful for her insightful knowledge.”
