Out of hours support for people experiencing a mental health crisis

Posted by Devon Partnership Trust in Mental health, News on 21st January, 2020

The Moorings crisis cafés run by Mental Health Matters provide a safe environment in the evenings for people who may be feeling distressed, frightened or overwhelmed.

The Moorings provide a drop in service, welcoming people experiencing a mental health crisis and offers an alternative to the Emergency Department or a 999 response when there is no immediate need.

Mental Health Matters also provides a 24 hour, 365 days a year mental health helpline on 0800 4700317. This service plays an important role in supporting individuals who are at risk of developing mental health problems, those individuals with diagnosed common mental health problems, people known to mental health services experiencing mental health distress and/or those seeking information, advice and support. It enables individuals to receive emotional support, advice, information and guidance over the telephone or via webchat. It responds to urgent concerns and will operate within a recovery model ensuring callers benefit from an effective intervention. Access to webchat is via the website and can be found on the left hand side of the page.
