Our plans for NHS 70 celebrations

Posted by Devon Partnership Trust in Learning disability, Mental health, News on 5th June, 2018

On Thursday, 5 July 2018, the NHS will celebrate its 70th birthday. Health and care organisations across the country are invited to celebrate this milestone, in line with national celebrations co-ordinated by NHS England and NHS Improvement.

We would like to mark the occasion by recognising 70 years of Mental Health and Learning Disability and are inviting service users, carers and staff to take part in marking this significant anniversary.

Mental health and learning disability over the years

We’re creating an online gallery and timeline which will include major milestones in mental health and learning disability across 70 years, including the emergence of key drugs and therapies, the opening of buildings, key achievements and improvements.

The gallery will also include photographs, short films and audio clips of people sharing their stories of how care and treatment has changed over the years, the meaning of recovery, as well as a look to the future and emerging developments.

If you’d like to get involved or want to share your story, please email dpn-tr.communications@nhs.net

NHS Big 7Tea

A key part of the national celebration plan is to hold tea parties under the ‘NHS Big 7Tea’ banner and many of our teams will be holding a local celebratory tea party/cream tea.
