During Occupational Therapy Week, students are interviewing members of our organisation in order to understand how occupation relates to their wellbeing. In this video, Rebecca Bates, Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioner/OT Apprentice interviews Liz Perry, Chief People Officer.
Rebecca said: "I’m all about getting close to nature and enjoying the outdoors. Yoga also helps keeps me grounded. I love exploring the woods, Dartmoor’s wild landscape, or taking in all that the coast has to offer! It makes me feel alive and connected to nature.
"I also love making things like flower arrangements or having a creative project on the go- gardening, and working on my allotment. There’s something so rewarding about watching plants grow and also being able to bring some of that natural beauty inside too.
"On top of that, my role in occupational therapy brings me a deep sense of purpose. I love helping others discover the positive impact of healthy occupations and engagement in their own lives. These activities aren’t just hobbies for me; they bring hope, creativity, and balance. And when I don’t have time for them, I definitely feel it. It reminds me just how important meaningful occupations are to a healthy, fulfilling life."
Liz said: "Work is a really important part of my life, working for the NHS in particular and being able to make a direct link with what we do in DPT/the NHS and the vulnerable people we serve in our community.
"I enjoy physical activity, particularly getting outside rather than indoor gym type activity. We have three dogs and I enjoy walking them and pottering around my garden. I allows me to clear my mind and reconnect with things outside of work.
Social interaction with my family and friends is also really important to me , having conversations and reconnecting - this also relates to work. I really enjoy pending time with my team at DPT, particularly in person."
