Devon Partnership NHS Trust has announced the appointment of Julie Dent as its new Chair.  The appointment is for a period of four years from 1 March 2013. Julie was formerly Chair of Torbay and Southern Devon Health and Care NHS Trust and Chief Executive of South West London Strategic Health Authority.  She lives in Templeton, near Tiverton. Commenting on the appointment, Peter Cubbon, Interim Chief Executive of Devon Partnership NHS Trust, said: “In addition to a wealth of NHS experience, Julie brings with her a genuine passion for mental health and wellbeing.  She also knows the south west very well and has an excellent reputation as a leader across health and social care.  I have every confidence that she will be an invaluable asset in our journey towards becoming a Foundation Trust later this year, and beyond.” Commenting on her appointment, Julie Dent said:  “I am delighted to be joining the Trust at such an important time in its development.  I am particularly keen to get out and about to talk to people with mental health issues, and their families and carers, to hear about their experiences.  I am also looking forward to meeting the Trust’s frontline staff to learn more about the work that they do across the county.” As Chair, Julie Dent will receive an annual remuneration of £20,896.  Non-executive appointments to NHS Trusts are made by the NHS Trust Development Authority and are subject to the Code of Practice of the Commissioner for Public Appointments
