New app to support children with anxiety in Devon and Torbay

Lumi Nova app graphicChildren and Family Health Devon are pleased to announce that the Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) have been working alongside BFB-Labs and will be continuing to offer the “Lumi-Nova – Tales of Courage” app. Lumi-Nova is supported through NICE guidelines.

 

The app was rolled out for use across North Devon last year and is now available for parents and carers across Devon and Torbay to use to support a child with anxiety.
 

Holly Billington, CFHD Service Lead for MHST, said: “Anxiety is one of the leading symptoms that prompt parents to seek help for their children. We saw the potential of Lumi Nova as a timely intervention support for local services and our MHST service. It draws on powerful science, clinical expertise, and digital innovation, to deliver the best clinical care and support possible to 7-12 -year-olds, regardless of where they live.”

 

Lumi-Nova is a therapeutic digital intervention (game) for childhood anxiety:

  • For 7-12 year olds (facing difficulties with anxiety)
  • Clinical basis: exposure therapy
  • Embedded outcome measures
  • Built in safeguarding and accessibility features
  • Available on Android and iOS
  • Co-created with young people, guardians, teachers, clinicians, academics, game experts

Children can use the intergalactic adventure game to start an exciting adventure through space:

  • Exploring new planets and collect treasure
  • Help characters along the way to earn rewards
  • Completing challenges to conquer your fears and worries
  • Repeat challenges to unlock new outfits for your Luminaut
  • Take on real life challenges to reach new levels
  • Save the galaxy from the Sludge Buccaneers and much more!
