Men's Health Week

Posted by Devon Partnership Trust in News, Recovery and wellbeing on 18th June, 2020

The theme for Men’s Health Week this year is 'Take action on COVID-19'. The Physical Therapies Team at Langdon, Dawlish share how they are working with patients to improve their physical and mental fitness.

Jack Phillips, Sports Team Leader, said: "Men’s health is a big talking point more so now than ever and the team would like to take this opportunity to share how proud we are of the patients at Langdon Hospital for their determination and the adaptations they have made to stay physically active and healthy during the current pandemic.

Physical activity sessions look very different to the norm at present but the patients have really prioritised the importance of these and taken a real focus on looking after their physical health and using activity to promote good mental health also."

The chart below shows activity engagements have increased month on month at a time with restrictions in place. Jack said: "This could have been easy to neglect looking after their physical health. But at a real credit to our patients they have understood the importance of their health and acted on this more so than ever before."

The team even gained praise on Twitter (see below) from a top former Olympian Anthony Ogogo in the process. The patients have gone above and beyond and are a great example of this year’s Men’s Health Week theme on 'Taking action on Covid-19'.
