Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week

Posted by Devon Partnership Trust in Mental health, News on 30th April, 2019

This week is Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week and staff within our TALKWORKS service (formerly DAS) are busy promoting the help and support that is available to all expectant and new mums within Devon.

Being pregnant and having a baby is usually thought of as a happy time, however for some women it is not necessarily the case. TALKWORKS offers psychological treatment for pregnant and postnatal women. We work closely with our Perinatal Mental Health Team, midwives, health visitor and local children’s centres to ensure our patients are receiving the best support available, often being offered prioritised assessment and treatment appointments.

To raise awareness over the coming week our teams are busy promoting maternal mental health by engaging with local communities and speaking to professionals about the treatments that TALKWORKS offers.

We are also getting involved in the week long campaign organised by the Perinatal Mental Health Partnership (PMHP) on social media by using the #maternalmhmatters hashtag and following the different discussions and events organised.

Please contact your local TALKWORKS service if you would like any more information about the treatments available.
