Launching our Carers and Families Strategy in Carers' Week

Posted by Devon Partnership Trust in Carers, News on 11th June, 2018

This week is Carers' Week the annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges that carers face and to recognise the contribution carers make to their partners, families, friends and local communities.

There are around 6.5 million people in the UK that are identified as carers and probably many more we do not know about.

Caring can be rewarding but we know that carers will often find it challenging to take care of themselves and their own health and wellbeing.

"We are extremely proud to be launching our Carers and Families Strategy this week which has been co-designed and produced by carers and our staff. View our Carers and Families Strategy here

What's on this week?

Devon is awash with events for carers this week, particularly information-sharing ones, and there are numerous opportunities for carers to try various health and wellbeing activities for free, including acupressure, pilates, mindfulness, meditation, hypnotherapy, belly dancing, photography, swimming, foraging, forest bathing, art and craft, and treasure hunts.

Devon Carers’ summer newsletter has a round-up of all the events happening across the county this week and Signposts for Carers covers the Torbay area.

Our inpatient unit at The Cedars in Exeter is holding a Carers’ Coffee Morning on Thursday 14 June from 10-11.30am to raise awareness, provide information and enjoy cake.
