John Woolner appointed Regional Systemic Curriculum Lead for Frontline

Posted by Devon Partnership Trust in News on 6th January, 2020

Congratulations to John Woolner who has been appointed as the South West Regional Systemic Curriculum Lead for Frontline, alongside his role as Systemic and Family Psychotherapist in PPT (Psychology and Psychological Therapies).

Frontline is a charity with a mission to transform the lives of vulnerable children by recruiting and developing people to become social workers and leaders in social work. John’s role will involve teaching graduate child-protection social work students about the Frontline Programme systemic theory and visiting them on placement to support their systemic interventions.

One of the principle recommendations that came out of the Munro report was for more systemic practice, a way of working that emphasises people's relationships as key to understanding their experiences. Interventions aim to effect change at the level of meaning. Interventions also aim to draw upon strengths and resources and seek to work with families rather than 'do to' them.
