World Menopause Day takes place on 18 October every year and raises awareness of the health issues and challenges women can face when approaching, going through and after the menopause.
Our organisation takes menopause very seriously; over 70% of our workforce are women, 60% of whom are over the age of 40.
The theme for 2019 is ‘Testosterone for women at Midlife’ and provides details about the use of testosterone therapy for women and alongside useful information for patients and health professionals.
Further information about the World Menopause Day 2019 theme can be found on the International Menopause Society website.
Our Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Laura Hobbs and Head of Staff Health and Wellbeing Donna Pereira work together on ensuring we are responding appropriately to the needs of staff relating to the menopause.
To offer peer help, support and advice, we also have a supportive, vibrant and enthusiastic Menopause Matters Staff Network which runs on a quarterly basis across Torbay, Exeter, North Devon and Dawlish and via Skype for Business.
During Menopause Awareness month in September, the Menopause Matters Network ran a series of Coffee and Cake mornings, to bring people together to talk about the menopause and its effects and impacts, with a focus on what might be done to help while at work.
