Invitation to Hospital Rooms exhibition

Posted by Devon Partnership Trust in #ProudofDPT, Mental health, News, Recovery and wellbeing on 26th April, 2019

Arts and mental health charity, Hospital Rooms has secured an 8-week exhibition at the Exeter Phoenix arts venue. The charity commissions artworks and has been working within The Junipers, our Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Jasmine Lodge, our Mother and Baby Unit (MBU) in Exeter.

New works have been created by Julian Opie, Mark Titchner, Sara Berman, Nina Royle, Tim A Shaw, Tamsin Relly, Jon Emmony, Susie Hamilton, Rose Pilkington, Lucy Stein, Grenville Davey and Bindi Vora.

Staff and service users were involved throughout the project and interacted with the artists through creative workshops and during the installation of commissioned works. Their approach opens dialogue and creates a huge sense of pride within each unit for patients and staff alike.

We are pleased to announce the final details of the event.

As well as the exhibition, Hospital Rooms is running a programme of events during which there will be the opportunity to meet and join workshops with some of the artists that worked with us producing artwork for both The Junipers (PICU) and Jasmine Lodge (MBU).

The exhibition will be open to the public from 3 May through to 30 June 2019 (10am-5.30pm), and entry is free.

There will be a preview on 2 May 2019 (6-8pm) giving the first chance to see the exhibition. Although entry to the exhibition is free, some of the workshops are chargeable; please see the poster for more information.

Toward the end of month Hospital Rooms will be starting the installation of the artwork to Jasmine Lodge in readiness for its opening during May.
