“An equal world is an enabled world”
For over 100 years people around the world have been marking the 8 March as a special day for women. International Women’s Day is a day to celebrate women and appreciate the journey they have been on.
Each year a theme is identified to focus our attention. This year’s theme draws on collective individualism which emphasises that whilst every individual is unique, there is also a fundamental shared likeness. This means that each individual is no better than, and no different from, anyone else.
The 2020 International Women’s Day theme “An equal world is an enabled world” strives for people to come together and work collaboratively to create a gender equal world.
Here at Devon Partnership NHS Trust, women make up about 72.2% of our workforce. On International Women’s Day we want to celebrate the women in our workforce and the women that use our services; we want to raise awareness around gender balance across our communities; and we want to strive for a more equal and enabled world.
