The Devon Wellbeing Hub will continue to support colleagues working in healthcare, social care and the police thanks to local funding.
The Hub provides free, confidential support for both individuals and teams who are struggling with any element of their wellbeing. Since launching in March 2021, the service has supported thousands of colleagues across Devon. This year alone (April 2022 - March 2023), they received nearly 800 individual referrals and had 5,760 contacts with colleagues for individual and team support.
The Hub has also continued to develop their offering and become more accessible. Even though the service initially launched in response to the impact of COVID-19, their team of Psychologists, Colleague Wellbeing Practitioners and Chaplains work with colleagues on a range of issues, whether they’re related to the pandemic or not. This includes managing stress and mental wellbeing, financial worries, domestic violence and relationship issues. Find out more in this article where the Hub reflect on the past two years.
Beth Fisher, Clinical and Operational Manager at the Devon Wellbeing Hub, said: “We are so pleased to be able to continue our wellbeing support for colleagues across Devon. There are many ongoing challenges for those working in health and social care and the police, and it’s important that our colleagues have somewhere to turn to if they’re struggling.
“It’s been lovely to see the amount of support we’ve had from staff and stakeholders. I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has shared their feedback or provided a testimonial; this has helped us continue to develop the service, and also to demonstrate the impact that is has.
“We’re looking forward to the next 12 months and the projects we have in store.”
Below are some comments the Hub has received from colleagues. You can also read testimonials from some of the teams who have been supported on the Devon Wellbeing Hub website.
“I was exhausted and stressed. Being able to voice my thoughts about work to someone else outside my team, who listened carefully, helped me to decide a specific plan to combat my work stress. Thank you!”
“I am glad I made use of the Chaplaincy service which has helped me to better express and understand my thoughts and feelings in an open, honest and non-judgmental way.”
