The Finance team at Devon Partnership NHS Trust has won a prestigious accolade at the annual Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) awards.
At a ceremony in London, the team scooped this year’s Financial Management Award in the category of NHS Trusts and Foundation Trusts, fighting off competition from NHS organisations up and down the country.
Commenting on the award, Director of Finance, Hugh Groves, said: “It’s great to have national recognition for the work that the team and the Trust has done and I’m very proud of them all. We were not expecting to win but were delighted to collect the award when we were announced as winners.
“What impressed the judges most, and what we are particularly proud of, is the fact that our work has helped to achieve far more than improvements in financial efficiency and performance – important though these are. Working closely with our clinical colleagues and operational managers, we have genuinely improved the way that care is delivered to some people with mental health needs and this is very rewarding for the team.”
Andy McKeon, Managing Director of Health at the Audit Commission, said: “This was a very impressive entry, combining innovative and imaginative use of data, strong clinical engagement and large efficiency gains to turn around the Trust’s financial performance and improve the quality of care.”
