In October last year, Ellan Corner, an Assistant Practitioner in our Teignbridge Learning Disability Primary Care Liaison Team, won the regional Our Health Heroes award in the Clinical Support Worker category.

As a regional winner, Ellan automatically qualified for the national awards and attended the awards ceremony at the OXO2 Tower in London at the end of November.

Following the award, Ellan was interviewed for the Royal College of Nursing magazine and you can view the article here.

Ellan comments: “I was honoured to be nominated for this award and when I heard that I had won the South West Region for Clinical Support Worker I was amazed, astonished and surprised.

"There are lots of people who I work with who are caring, dedicated and committed to improving the lives of people with learning disabilities so I felt very blessed to have been chosen for this award.

"I am also lucky to work for a trust whose mission is to become a recognised centre of excellence and expertise in mental health and learning disability within the next five years and aims to deliver consistently high quality care and treatment.

"The afternoon at the awards was enjoyable, entertaining and I felt privileged to be there.

"I am grateful to my manager Katy Welsh for nominating me and for also requesting a ticket for my son to accompany us."
