On Sunday 12 September we had some incredible staff and supporters take part in the Torbay Half Marathon and 10K to raise money for the DPT Charity.
Jointly they have raised more than £4,000 to support enhancements to our services. A huge well done to everyone that took part, pushing themselves to train and completing this difficult challenge.
Helen Stanway, Lead Administrator, Devon Wellbeing Hub and one of our fabulous runners said: “It was really well organised and the atmosphere was amazing. It was great to see so many people taking part and everyone there to support others, after the lack of events in the last 18 months due to COVID-19, it really was a good day!
"I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I ran the 10k and managed to set a PB. I ran it in 56 minutes, under an hour which was my aim as I’ve only been running about 9 months. I took it up at the beginning of the year as I needed something to focus my attention on as I like many others have suffered with my mental health in the past and especially during COVID-19 and running has been such an outlet for me, it’s helped me mentally in a way I never thought possible. I’ve always thought am not a runner, I won’t be able to do this, but I’ve built up slowly and so happy with what I achieved."
