Three incredible people took on the Torbay 10k and half marathon on Sunday 26 June to raise money for our DPT Charity. We would like to thank you for supporting our organisation so that we can provide opportunities over and above what the NHS is able to fund.
Laura Jones, Receptionist, said: “I really enjoyed being part of the Torbay 10k run. I felt pretty overwhelmed when I saw the half marathon runners take off, and then realised all my months of training was going to help me achieve this. The race started and I was soon on my way running the course from Paignton into Torquay, and then the return. Lots of people cheering and clapping, and street drummers to add to the atmosphere. There was a slight headwind on Sunday which made it a little difficult to run against, however the weather was reasonable and it did a good job in cooling me down on the hills.
"I was fortunate to have my partner Jamie run the 10k with me, and he did a good job at encouraging me to keep going to the finishing line! I completed the run in 1 hour 18 minutes. I am so proud of myself, and also very grateful to those who sponsored me. It may have been my first 10K, it certainly won’t be the last."
Emma Tutchings, Senior Mental Health Practitioner, and Natasha Blackford, Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner, completed the half marathon in under 2 hours. They said, “The difficult course terrain and windy weather added to the challenge, but it was a lovely route and a great day in general. Would highly recommend to anyone considering it in the future."
If you’d like to challenge yourself then the charity can support you to do this. Why not try skydiving for free on Saturday 24 September by raising a minimum of £395?
